SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Hot Summer Time!
If hunting for food isn't what you came here for, then sunbathing is always an option. Even if the color seems odd, this sand, also, likes to go literally everywhere.
Simply hopping into the water is also rarely a bad idea. This close to the coast there are no harmful creatures in the water, so whether you brought a swim suit, hop in fully clothed or have no care in the world about who might stumble over you naked, Agra 10's ocean is yours to play in.
Explore the city!
Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Visit the spaceships!
Maybe look around anyway. Or try your hand at some repairs?
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.
More information can be found here.

Hah, that is awesome. Can you fire laser beams through your eyes? Or maybe shoot electricity from your hands? They're not claws, some robots have those in movies. Oh, oh, can you fly!?
[ Please say yes, that would be AMAZING. The knowledge that robots eat pasta makes him feel a little less homesick. The enjoyment of good food is universal, it seems, no matter the planet. ]
I never had ramen, but any kind of pasta tastes great. Massimo taught me how to prepare trenette al pesto, I could make it for you one day. It's nice to meet you, Cayde. [ He gives the Exo's hand one last squeeze before letting go. Enthusiastic is a good way to describe this kid. ]
no subject
[Granted it's jumping again in midair so it's not just any ol' jumps, but even Warlock gliding is closer to Hunter jumps.]
Ramen's a soup-based noodle dish. Good stuff. Especially the spicy one. You like spicy?
[Cayde chuckles.]
Well, I'll look forward to that. You just get here?
no subject
[ Those exist in this world, of course, but he's never got to see one just yet. Swords, knives, and harpoons are things he's familiar with, the latter especially because sailors had thrown them at his direction in the past on more than one occasion. ]
I don't know. I'm not sure if I ever had anything spicy. [ He nods at the last question and for the first time, he looks as lost as he feels. ] I woke up next to the floating shiny pearl thing this morning. It was weird.
no subject
Jumping's easy. I'll hop us right up that cliff over there if you want.
[At the question about guns, he pats the large hand cannon tucked into the holster at his hip before slipping it out. It's a pretty large gun, nearly as long as his forearm.]
Gun. This here's my Ace of Spades. Take care you don't stand in front of this end, 'specially if someone's holding it. I won't sugarcoat things, kid- this thing's used to kill.
[He slides it back in place.]
Ah, sounds like the data point. Over in the middle of the city? Oh yeah, it'd be weirder if you were used to waking up in strange places without knowing how you got here. Don't worry, you're hardly the first. Everyone here's pretty much in the same situation.
no subject
[ Alberto jumps back when the gun appears, more taken aback than scared. He's never seen one before, so he doesn't feel the need to be cautious around a gun per se until Cayde mentions not to stay in front of it. ]
Got it. [ He takes an extra step to the side just to be sure, then leans in to looks at the gun up close, smiling when he sees the printed Ace. He's seen this same symbol in those colorful cards humans keep and play games with. ]
Many things kill. Do you use it to hunt? [ It's a sad fact of life he's accustomed to, even at this young age. Case in point, he would have eaten the lobster if the animal hadn't run away. Alberto understands killing to eat and survive. For sport or pleasure, not so much. ]
Yeah, there. This place is weird, all the buildings are ruined and very gray. [ His previous cheerfulness drops a little because Temba is so not like Portorosso in many depressing ways. ] What's your home like? Your real home?
no subject
[It's an Ace symbol that matches the one on his right pauldron. The Exo notes the kids smile in recognition. He's made the Ace his trademark of sorts.]
You're right there, kid. Sometimes it's kill or be killed, unfortunately. Yeah, I hunt. And if there's something or someone out there that means harm for me and mine? I won't hesitate either.
[He glances back in the direction of the ruins, smiling crookedly.]
Seen better days, definitely. At least some things are looking nicer than before. People have been working on fixing up some places. In some ways? It's kind of like home, but mostly not. The city I live in started off small and with places just getting put together. But there were a lot of people. Even more, now. Busy place, the City. A lot bigger than here, with buildings that tower even higher than the highest ones here.
[Looking back at Alberto, then kneels down so he's more at eye-level with him. He thumbs behind him, figuring the kid would rather hang on his back than be carried.]
So, how's about we do some cliff-jumping?
no subject
It does take Alberto a second to notice that the symbols match, but he grins when he spots the mark on the pauldron. The expression diminishes a little as Cayde mentions what he uses the gun for. He briefly wonders if the exo would hunt sea monsters too, if he considers them dangerous. ]
A bigger city than this one? I've never seen buildings this tall, your home must be amazing. [ After Cayde crouches down, Alberto doesn't need to be asked twice. He throws a fit in the air with an excited; ] YEAH! Let's go! [ and then climbs all over the robot man. ]
[ Despite how generally bold he is, Alberto gets on Cayde's back with care as not to kick him by accident. He's not sure where to hold onto at first, so he wraps his legs around Cayde's waist and puts his hand on the pauldrons. ]
no subject
Too true, kid. Gravity can be friend or foe. Don't mess with gravity.
[The slight change of the kid's expression doesn't go unnoticed. He offers what he thinks is a reassuring smile. It's been a long and admittedly violent path he's traveled, but he's come a long way, and he's not so trigger-happy that he'd shoot things without reason.
At least Alberto is quick to spring back at the offer, and Cayde chuckles as he waits for him to clamber aboard before standing again.]
Oh yeah. Much bigger. It's a great place- lots of people, lots of great food.
You all set? Hang on tight.
[Taking a few springing steps, he starts to bound off towards the cliffside, cutting some of that distance short with a few leaps, just to get the kid used to the motion. Some of his jumps just continue in midair, as though he's found an invisible step to rebound off of, to carry them higher.]
Heeere we go~!
no subject
Sounds like a place I'd like to see. [ Not because of the people, he's not a fan of big crowds, but food is one of the greatest things in life. He nods after the question and clings onto the older man a little tighter.
When Cayde mentioned that he could jump really high, he never said he could do it in mid-air . The revelation has Alberto positively thrilled, and he lets out a surprised 'WOAH' before he laughs and pat Cayde's pauldrons excitedly, cheering him on as they get closer to the top of the Cliff.
You're officially the coolest person he knows, congrats Cayde. ]
no subject
Well, who knows. Maybe the Agrii will drop us off there for a visit.
[After their trip out to Coruscant, he assumes anything's possible.
At the rate they're going, they reach the foot of the cliffs in no time. Cayde looks up, gauging the best places to leap while making sure Alberto's still secure, but the kid's been enjoying himself, which is a big plus in the Hunter's book. The Exo's up and off again, sometimes pulling his midair jump trick to reach a better foothold, up and up, but they're soon at the top of the cliffs.]
no subject
That could happen? We can go back to our worlds? [ He's already missing the friend he's made there, it's been so long since he had any, that if there's a chance to go back to where he will take it no matter how difficult a task it is.
For now, he's busy being absolutely elated by the jumps and Cayde's skill. Either laughing or encouraging him to leap further. Once they reach the top of the Cliff, Alberto leans to the side, as far as he can without being at risk of falling off Cayde's back, and looks down. He lets out a whistle. ]
So high...that was amazing! Robots are incredible!
no subject
[Explaining about time differences is probably going to be just as complicated as explaining possible alternate realities.
At least they can take a moment to appreciate the view they have around them now that they're at the top of the cliffs. Cayde grins.]
Oh, I know I am pre-tty amazing.
no subject
[ Time-shenanigans would probably go over Alberto's head. He can believe in a lot of things, but that would be a bit too weird and might take a bit to sink in. The surrounding city might be all destroyed, but it's still a sight from so high up, and the sea monster boy appreciates how tall and big everything is in this world.
Alberto then gives another small laugh that sounds like agreement to Cayde's statement. ]
Where did you learn to jump on air? Can I learn how to do that?
no subject
[It looks so deceptively peaceful out here and in this moment, which to Cayde just makes it seem all the more upsetting that something like a freak storm has driven the people of this world from it. That it's not even a natural storm just makes it all the more sinister.]
Eh, it's just something us Hunters do. [He laughs.] I'm not sure I'd be able to explain it, but unfortunately it's not something teachable.]
no subject
I can help, promise. [ He knows he has to be useful or no one would want him around. Alberto likes helping and talking to people too, so it's not difficult for him to get used to the idea of teaming up. He leans closer to Cayde's back again, so his weight is better distributed instead of hanging to the side looking down at the cliff. Not like he's anywhere near heavy, this kid's basically a long noodle. ]
Aw, pity. [ He sounds a bit heartbroken because he really enjoys being in the air. Almost as much as driving a scooter. ] Are there a lot of Hunters out there? Are you a team?
no subject
Glad to hear it, kid. And if anyone gives you trouble about that, you let me know. Seriously though? I don't think anyone's going to complain. They'll welcome any willing help.
[All Alberto's shifting around back there hasn't made the Exo budge, and Cayde seems more amused for the kid's excitement that he doesn't mind being temporarily relegated to being a jungle gym.]
Back home, lots of Hunters. I have to be in charge of 'em all too, tiring, tedious work sometimes because everyone gets to go out and adventure and I get stuck doing paperwork most of the time.
We're not actually a team, but we all work towards the same thing. We're all Guardians. That includes Warlocks and Titans- Hunters are the best, by the way. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
[He grins.]
Guess the other two in the Vanguard are basically my team though. I head the Hunters, Ikora covers the Warlocks, and Zavala, he's the commander but he's also a Titan.
no subject
Alberto is a bit surprised by the offer of help, green eye blinking and staring at the Exo, clearly not used to it even though Cayde has been nothing but friendly and badass since he met him. Alberto gives him a smile that it's more soft and genuine than the previous excited one. And if he's clinging some more to Cayde's neck, well...he doesn't want to fall down right now. ]
I'll remember, thank you. [ It's good to know. On the kid's defense, Cayde makes for a really entertaining jungle gym. He also says really cool things, like explaining what the Hunters's do. ]You all have really great names. Are the Titans big? What does a Warlock do? And what do you guard in your world?
[ Are you tired already of all the questions, Cayde? ]
no subject
He shakes his head, chuckling.]
Oh yeah, huge. Their shoulders especially, honestly, I don't know why.
Warlocks? They like to look into the mysteries of the universe and read a lot. Spew a lot of words too. Also they use space magic. My friend Ikora's actually around. I bet she'd love to answer any and all your questions about Warlocks if you ever run into her.
And as for what we guard? Well, humanity. Our world. There's a lot of places back home that look not too different from this city. So we fight hard to protect what we have.
no subject
Maybe to lift weights? Or stand on top of one another and scare off other land monsters. [ Posting that out makes Alberto realize that, while he's the opposite of heavy, it's not nice to make Cayde carry him. He wiggles a little and disentangles himself from the man, leaping to the ground. Dangerously close to the edge of the cliffs, at that, but it's been made clear that heights aren't an issue for this kid. ]
Hah! Going by that description, like my friend Luca could be a warlock, he loves all those things, especially the books. Can't do magic just yet, though, but he's learning new things at school. [ Does Alberto know what subjects humans learn at school and which ones are impossible? No. Does he actually worry about figuring out the difference? Also, no. ]
What does Ikora look like? That way, if I see her, I can ask her about it. [ The boy lets out a soft 'Ohhh' and his green eyes got big after that bit of information. Cayde you're so cool. ] That's incredible!
no subject
[He smirks a bit as the kid makes his way down from his shoulders, but he keeps a close eye on him in case Alberto gets a little too close to the edge there.]
Oh yeah? Well, I don't know that they'd teach magic in school but hey, who knows?
Ikora's a tall woman, dark skin, real short hair. Honestly your hair's longer than her's. She wears these long purple robes. Hard to miss her. Also don't be intimidated because she looks super serious? That is her default mode.
[Oh this kid. His ego's going to explode with him around.]
no subject
He's a bit oblivious to Cayde's concern, not because he doesn't appreciate it, really, but because it's something that happens so rarely in his life he's not used to it. ]
Maybe they do in Genoa, I don't know for sure. I've never gone to school. [ He's also not sounding too heartbroken about it either. ] I'll ask Luca about it, if I can find a way to send him a letter.
[ Alberto knows they're on a different planet and all, but the limitations are still sinking in. ]
That will be easy to remember, I've never seen a girl with shorter hair than me. And purple is the best color. [ He grins at that. There's no ulterior motive whatsoever, no sir, it's not because his scales and fins are purple or something. ] S'okay, I don't mind serious people. Massimo is like that, all huge and with big eyebrows that make it look intimidating, but he's a very nice man.
[ Alberto looks around them and then sits down on the ground, taking a deep breath. This world is weird and a bit scary, but from here and with Cayde as company, it doesn't seem so bad. ]
Do you have other friends here?
[ Listen Cayde, credit where credit is due. You are cool to him, just accept it. ]
no subject
Letters aren't a bad idea. Not sure if there'd be a way to send them, but at least you've got things written down and ready to go whenever opportunity might present itself.
[Even he writes letters. Leaves them hidden here and there. Memories someone might remember if not him.]
Ikora can be nice. Just stay on her good side and everything will be just peachy.
Oh, I've made lots of friends here. Most everyone around are nice folks. Even some kids around.
no subject
Hm, that's true. I'd have the letters ready if I do that. But I don't have any paper with me. [ Not since he handled Luca the drawing he made of the two of them riding a Vespa. He does have a pencil, though, because he got used to carrying one around. ]
Will do![ While he gets in trouble often, Alberto doesn't go around annoying or insulting people on purpose. He's no Ercole. That last bit really makes Alberto perk up. ]
Are they robots too? Do robots have kids? [ Now he's wondering if Cayde is a dad too. In all fairness, he's never gotten The Talk™ from anybody, so Alberto doesn't truly know where kids come from. Just that they sorta happen to adults at some point, and that it might or might not involve eggs in some way. ]
no subject
Who, the kids? Nah, they're... Err. Well actually I don't know what the little green kid is. He's like this short and has ears almost as long as he is tall. He likes eating all the weird fish in my tank so I gotta stock it now and then.
The other two kids are human. Not even a year old. And then we got a few teenagers running around, maybe a few years older than you.
[He chuckles.] So far as I know? Robots do not have kids. Before we were robots though? Maybe? Who knows.
[His pre-Exo days are only bits and flashes, but he clings to each piece he's found. Dear Ace, met a new kid today. Think you two'd hit it right off.]
no subject
[ Alberto lived in an abandoned tower in the middle of the sea, the only things he owned, he scavenged them, and thus someone living in a library doesn't sound all that odd to him. That explanation about the green kid, though, it has Alberto raising a confused eyebrow and tilting his head to the side. There are green sea monsters, but they don't have big ears, and so the description doesn't fully fit the nonhumans he knows ].
Uh, weird. But fish are very tasty, so I can't blame him. I'll check on the other kids later. [ Maybe one of them is someone he knows, although Alberto very much doubts it. The news that robots were something else first leaves him surprised again. ]
You weren't always like this? Can other people become robots?
