SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Hot Summer Time!
If hunting for food isn't what you came here for, then sunbathing is always an option. Even if the color seems odd, this sand, also, likes to go literally everywhere.
Simply hopping into the water is also rarely a bad idea. This close to the coast there are no harmful creatures in the water, so whether you brought a swim suit, hop in fully clothed or have no care in the world about who might stumble over you naked, Agra 10's ocean is yours to play in.
Explore the city!
Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Visit the spaceships!
Maybe look around anyway. Or try your hand at some repairs?
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Storm!
When he finally gets under the nearby awning of an abandoned building, he quickly shakes himself off like a dog, trying to get dry and change back but...it's not happening. Whatever the storm did to his shape shifting ability got him stuck in his real form for the time being. Alberto finds himself staring at his hands. Still purple, still full of scales and webbed, yep. Oh, crap.
Realizing that staying under the awning leaves him visible to anyone who might walk by, he runs into the street again to try and find a more secluded place. Omega's voice startles him and the sea monster skitters and hides behind the nearest available place: a broken metal door leaning against a ruined wall. There's a high chance that Omega has spotted the long, scaly tail with a large purple fin before he managed to hide. if not, well...There's definitely a pair of big, green eyes shining under the dark shadows caused by the door. ]
no subject
The thought's enough to bolster her a tiny bit as she glances up at the skies before edging out into the open street again. Now where did it go? She looks around, wiping ineffectually at her hair as it drips into her eyes.]
H-Hello?
[There! She gasps as she catches a glimpse of...eyes? Someone's definitely there, and right now she's more relieved than worried. She just doesn't want to be alone here. Her expression softens as she slowly approaches the broken door being used for a makeshift cover.]
...hey... Are you all right..?
no subject
Alberto worries at his bottom lip with shark-like teeth, realizing that acting as if he's not here won't work, she's already speaking to him. Curling his tail closer against himself, and trying to stay as far into the shadows as he can, he answers back with a cheerfulness he doesn't feel at all. ]
I'm fine! It's nothing! [ And then he adds more hurriedly and with a hint of anxiety as she comes closer; ] You should get out of the rain before it gets worse.
no subject
Worse? I really hope it doesn't. I've never been out in a storm before, even back home.
[Omega glances up at the dark skies, flinching at the incessant downpour. Another sharp crack of lightning and thunder has her squeak in fear, and she darts towards Alberto's cover since it's the closest thing.]
no subject
Alberto knows he shouldn't really engage, he needs to try and find a way to scurry away unnoticed, and yet...It's nice to talk to someone of his age. ]
Me neither. I never liked it when the light fell from the sky, it's just wrong. This place is weird.
[ The last line gets drowned by the terrifying sound of the raging storm. Alberto doesn't even have time enough to flinch, a moment he's alone in the dark and the next one she's ducking under the door with him. He squeaks too, startled at the sudden movement, and instinctively tries to stand up...only to bonk his head against the metal panel covering them as he does so. The door falls to the side and ends on the ground. The sea monster follows a second later, falling on his back, serpentine body in full view and looking totally dazzled.
So much for trying to be cautious. ]
no subject
Are you all right?!
[She crawls closer to him, blinking as she gets a better look at him once another flash of lightning lights things up, but it's the following thunder that has her jump. Still, she gently puts a hand on his head, hoping he hadn't hit his head too hard.]
Hey, can you hear me?
no subject
I...yeah, yeah I'm okay. I can hear you. [ He sits up as she rubs at the top of his head, purple fins moving when he nods.
Concern. Now, that's new. Alberto has been expecting disgust and anger, so this is a much easier thing to handle. He meets Omega's eyes cautiously, and it's then obvious that she still looks scared, but it's because of the storm and not him. A different kind of instinct kicks in, not much different from when he first met Luca. The cold and the water aren't an issue for him, but he knows it's not healthy for humans. ]
We should find someplace dry to hide, away from the falling lights. [ Alberto stands up, looking around them and the ruined city, trying to see behind the rain and wind making it all harder than it has any right to be. ] There!
[ There's what looks like an abandoned store on the other end of the street. The door is still in place despite the plants growing around and over it, but the front window is broken, and the hole is big enough for children to sneak in. Without thinking, Alberto tries to grab Omega's hand to then move towards the store. ]
no subject
Agreed.
[Omega gets to her feet, making a face at the wetness, but there's nothing to be done for it so long as they're in the rain. She's still trying to make out the shelter Alberto's found when she finds herself grabbed, and she can only step along after him to keep from getting dragged.]
no subject
After that, the boy focuses on reaching a safe place as fast as possible, He still doesn't want an adult spotting him. When they reach the store, he eyes the broken window to make sure there's no glass that could cut them, and then turns to her. ]
This place looks good enough. Do you need help to climb inside?
no subject
When they come up to the window, she studies it before giving Alberto a nod.]
Much better than a broken door. I think I can make it.
[She steps closer to the wall, jumping up to grasp at the sill. It might have been easier if it weren't so wet, so she's having a little trouble trying to leverage herself.]
...okay, maybe just a little help.
no subject
Okay. [ Alberto is also somewhat stronger than he looks like, so he putts his hands on her waist and lifting her up. Slippery surfaces are an issue for him, so he grabs the sill next and hefts himself up, long-tail swinging behind him. ]
What sort of place is this? [ The store smells like plants and dust inside, and it's pretty dark, but it offers shelter from the storm at least. He's never seen a supermarket before, much less one totally empty of food. ]
no subject
I'm not sure...
[Once she makes sure Alberto's inside and unhurt, she looks around. She sweeps a finger along one of the shelves, wrinkling her nose at the dust.]
...I think it's a shop of some kind. Or at least, it used to be.
no subject
A lightning bolt followed by loud thunder makes him jump, tail tensing up like a startled cat. He glares at the sky before his attention turns towards Omega. ]
Better to move further into the shop. There might be more dust, but it will also be less windy and loud. [ He wants to look around and see if there's anything useful to be found: a blanket, food, a cool knife... ] So, uhm. You're not...scared of me?
no subject
Scared of you? Why? [She tilts her head at him.] Should I be?
no subject
No, no. It's just...most humans are afraid, back in my world. They call us sea monsters. It's stupid.
[ The store is dark, it only has some broken lights flickering in random aisles, but Alberto can see in the dark so that's not an issue. He walks close to her to make sure she's not going to trip on any debris, and because misery loves company. ]
What's your name?
no subject
Well I don't think you look like a monster. And I've definitely met scarier people to be more afraid of than you.
[While she's still wet at least they're out of the worst of the storm, even though at times she can't help but wonder that the building will hold up whenever thunder rumbles heavily overhead. It does make the ambiance more than a little creepy, reminiscent of a place she's been to, but that makes her all the more thankful for the company.]
My name's Omega. What's your name?
no subject
I don't plan on scaring anybody, so I think we're good then.
[ The storm is making the walls and loose glass rattle around them, and Alberto is having similar concerns as Omega. It's not as if they have a lot of options, however, so they're stuck here for the time being. After she shares her name, he reaches out to shake Omega's hand. ]
Alberto Scorfano! It's nice to meet you, Omega. [ He smiles, but quickly looks down at their joined hands. She's cold to the touch. Being wet is not an issue for a sea serpent, since it's their natural state of being, but even someone like Alberto can tell that she might be uncomfortable. The shelves and roof are really high, as if whoever lived or worked here had really long legs, so he has to stand to his full height to look past them. ]
Oh! I see some curtains on the wall at the far end. We could use those to keep us warm.
no subject
It's nice to meet you too, Alberto.
[She still smiles despite a sniffle; it is still cold and she's still wet, but she's trying to put on a brave face. Soldiers wouldn't let a little water slow them down. ...although soldiers wore armor so it didn't have much to soak in, usually.]
You do? I can't see anything. Your eyesight must be really good.
[Omega smiles again, nodding in approval of the idea.]
no subject
I can see underwater and in really dark places, like caves. [ His eyes also reflect light, like one of a cat. Even if she can't see ahead, she should always be able to spot the pair of green, shiny eyes near her. ] I also know how to make fire, if we find wood or something that could burn I can start one.
[ Shouldn't be too hard, they're surrounded by plants even inside the store. ]
no subject
Do you...live underwater? The people I used to live with could go underwater, but they live mostly in cities suspended above them. It would rain more often than not, so most of the time I'd spend inside.
A fire sounds nice though...
[She rubs at her arms through the dampness of her sleeves.]
no subject
Cities suspended above the water? Like balloons? How did the houses not fall down? [ He's never seen anything like it, so it's hard to imagine. Raining all day sounds unpleasant, though, Alberto doesn't think he could live without the sun now that he's got so used to it. ]
Let's see if we can collect some wood. Moving will help you stay warm too. [ Through the badly lit store, he's trying to see what plants seem to be the better for the fire, dried up or close to it. Next to the wall with the curtains, there are branches and brushes, so hopefully, that is a good start. ]
no subject
What's the town like?
[She laughs a little as she starts to look around for something to make a fire. Wood... Was there any wood here?]
No, not like that. Each platform is circular, and held up by lots of struts that go down into the water. It probably doesn't look at all very sturdy but the city's been there for years.
no subject
[ This is reminding him that he's hungry, so it probably would be wise to change the subject. Better focus on one problem at a time. As Alberto talks, he also starts searching for dry branches. ]
Ah, that sounds safer. Somewhat. [ He's pretty sure houses and the like need a better foundation, but who is Alberto to judge? There's a long root only a few feet from him, and he reaches out to grab it as they talk. ] Was it fun, living there?
no subject
[And yet she sounds so gleeful about it.]
I've never heard of gelato. Or pas...pasta? My favorite snack is Mantell Mix. It's this puffed, sweet kind of...thing. Actually I'm not sure what it's made of. But it's good. Me and Wrecker would celebrate the end of a mission with some.
[Her expression falls slightly at that as she wonders if and when she'd be able to see her friends again.]
Hm? Oh no, it wasn't fun at all. I didn't get to do anything or go anywhere except what and where I was told.
no subject
A seedy part of town? Were you a runaway too? [ There's no judgment on his tone, only honest curiosity. She really sounds happy about it and that's throwing him off because Luca had been the opposite. ]
You're missing out, those are great. I never had Mantell Mix either, but perhaps there's some around the city. We can check it out once the storm goes away. You went on missions? To do what?
[ Alberto tugs on the root to try and cut it from the rest of the plant it's attached to, but it's almost a thick as his arm, so it's easier said than done. Tongue sticking out of his mouth, he tugs harder but the root is still not budging. Some help here, Omega, please? ]
That sucks. Now you can do anything you want here. Who's going to stop you? [ Certainly not Alberto. ]
