SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Hot Summer Time!
If hunting for food isn't what you came here for, then sunbathing is always an option. Even if the color seems odd, this sand, also, likes to go literally everywhere.
Simply hopping into the water is also rarely a bad idea. This close to the coast there are no harmful creatures in the water, so whether you brought a swim suit, hop in fully clothed or have no care in the world about who might stumble over you naked, Agra 10's ocean is yours to play in.
Explore the city!
Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Visit the spaceships!
Maybe look around anyway. Or try your hand at some repairs?
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Pre-Serum Steve Rogers | MCU
Even though this was clearly as far away from Brooklyn as he could possibly get and also possibly in outer space. No need to panic.
That didn't seem to make a difference for his lungs, though. Steve sat on the ground still processing everything the data point had told him and trying to slow his breathing down as much as he could. It was halfway successful. He was still wheezing but it wasn't getting any worse. Now just to keep that going; something told him there was no chance of finding asthma cigarettes around here so this was his bet.
Summer Time! There was something sort of exciting about being on such a strange beach. It was like jumping into one of Buck's weird sci fi books or a space comic. Steve half expected little green men to pop up behind rocks. But that was stupid considering there were literal blue women and living robots around just normally. With all that the green men lost their novelty but the beach was still exciting.
He wasn't going to be out for long and certainly wasn't going to go near any of the lobsters (it would probably kill him just to prove it really could be deadly to someone). But he absolutely was going to go swimming. When was the last time he'd really been able to do that?
Steve pulled his shirt off and started the timer before his skin started to burn. Maybe a half hour or so. But whatever. Until then he was going to go swim in the ocean.
Spaceships This was incredible. Steve stared at all the ships and walked closer, half expecting them to be some sort of trick or illusion. But no. He could reach his hand out and touch them. He could go inside and see the sort of controls and machinery one would expect in a spaceship.
A spaceship!
"Buck Rogers can take a hike. Steve Rogers has the real McCoy here," he laughed to himself as he walked around the ships for maybe the hundredth time. "Boy...What it must be like in the air... "
He looked over and tried the one ship that had let him inside. Sure there must be no harm in taking a closer peek. Maybe even looking around the controls. See if the thing could get airborne. Just for a little...
how dare you make me choose- Summer Time!
Save the emotional reunion for the real deal :-POf course Steve was out here, should've guessed. Where ever he could get himself into trouble, or beat, or half drowned. Bucky strolled along the sand, kicking away one of those lobsters before it could get too close, and smiling fondly after Steve. This was how he still pictured him, all scrawny and more brave than someone his size had any right to be.
"You're gonna catch your death out there, you know that?" he called in a teasing voice.
Bahahahahahha
"Are you just jealous 'cause you'll rust now?" Teasing right back as always.
"'Sides, with those weird lobsters, the bugs, and everything else I've heard about, I think the water might be the safest place around!"
evil
It was like the last 80 years had never happened, the banter as easy as it had ever been. And he had to Mother Hen- a stiff breeze could knock Steve out for a week, and he was far too headstrong to look after himself. It's why they got long so well.
"Yeah, that's just 'cause we can't see what's out there to be worried about it."
no subject
He hadn't gotten the whole story behind the arm yet but he figured it couldn't be anything good. Still, it wasn't in their relationship to baby each other. Bucky might guard him like a pit bull but he never coddled. Warned and advised, sure, but never coddled. It was part of how their relationship got as strong as it did. Steve wasn't about to drop it now.
"Admit it: you sink like a rock now with all that steel and you don't wanna get embarrassed when I gotta save you. What would the dames think?"
no subject
"Mm, you got me. That's it. You go ahead, I'll call in the cavalry if you get swept out to sea," he promised.
Joining him would show off the scars where flesh met metal, and Bucky wasn't really prepared for Steve to see him like that.
"Sides, there's not a lotta dames round here to disappoint, in case you didn't notice."
no subject
"I did notice that, actually. We get any sorta reason for how come? Seems odd."
His smirk returned.
" 'sides, who are ya spinning around the dance floor? You need someone."

Arrival
"Hey- are you- shit- are you okay?" he asked, not liking the sound of that wheeze at all.
Billy tried to offer a reassuring look. He didn't like to use his magic in front of the new arrivals before he got a chance to explain (he's made some pretty terrible first impressions) but-
"It's okay, just breathe a sec-"
He murmured a spell under his breath, hands taking on a blue glow before an inhaler materialized in them. Hopefully he'd done that right.
"I'll explain, I promise, just- here-" he tried to offer up the inhaler for the other man to use, not knowing he'd have no idea what he was trying to present him with.

He took the item. And held it sideways, trying to figure out if it was a gun of some sort or maybe a pipe. Was it an asthma...pipe? He'd never heard of such a thing.
"What...what is this?" He asked between wheezes. The rest of his questions would have to wait; the guy had said he would explain so Steve took him at his word.
no subject
"Shake it," Billy instructed, before placing his hand over Steve's to guide it properly to his lips. "You're gonna inhale. Long and deep. And then you're gonna hold it for ten seconds, okay?" he prompted, before compressing the inhaler for him.
no subject
But the hiss of the medicine getting released had him inhaling half from surprise. Okay. So at this point he might as well just hold it. Which he did and...
"Holy cow," he said a second later when his wheezing cleared like clouds from the sky. He stared at the man with his miracle toy.
"What is that? Some sorta new medicine?"
no subject
"It's an inhaler. If it's real bad you can use it a few times it should help clear it up," he tried to explain, "Are you feeling better? I know this is all a lot to take it, just try and stay calm. Everyone freaks out a bit, I promise."
no subject
"Yeah. Yeah, this was a bit of a shock. One second I'm in Brooklyn and the next I'm...wherever here is. I'm glad I ran into you first though. I owe you."
He extended a hand.
"My name's Steve. Steve Rogers."

He looks at her ears and then away rapidly in case that is rude.
"What...what is that, then? The pilot data point?"
no subject
She moves a little closer--cautiously, he's still a human, but he doesn't seem dangerous to her. "Unfortunately, you can only hold the knowledge from one of the data points at a time. I'm not a pilot, myself. I have the agriculture expertise."
no subject
He frowns a bit.
"Did learning the... agriculture expertise do anything else to you? Like have other people had side effects? Changes?"
no subject
no subject
"Uh. No, ma'am. I was referring to your thoughts or your mind. Any interference..."

Keep this going and make it canon?

Summer
"Hi there! Mind if I join you?"
no subject
"Not at all, ma'am," he said cordially, getting to his feet as a gentleman should to greet her. He glanced behind her and saw the trap before grinning.
"Catchin' dinner for yourself?"
no subject
no subject
He glanced at the trap as though to see if it had already been tripped.
"I could help you with the cooking process if you needed, ma'am. My ma raised me to earn my supper so I'll do whatever you need."

It was then that he realized he'd been inexcusably rude.
"Oh. I'm sorry ma'a- Clarice. I never gave my name. Steve Rogers. From Brooklyn, New York which might explain our accent differences." He smiled, trying to show he'd meant it kindly.
