Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Hot Summer Time!

Summer has arrived and you know what that means: It's time to head out and spend some time at the beach, lounging on its bluish, almost purple sand, going for a swim or gathering some of the fat, green lobsters just wandering around the beach. They may be tasty, but remember that their pinch is toxic. It won’t kill you but it will definitely have the pinched body part swelling up and itching like a bad wool sweater.

If hunting for food isn't what you came here for, then sunbathing is always an option. Even if the color seems odd, this sand, also, likes to go literally everywhere.

Simply hopping into the water is also rarely a bad idea. This close to the coast there are no harmful creatures in the water, so whether you brought a swim suit, hop in fully clothed or have no care in the world about who might stumble over you naked, Agra 10's ocean is yours to play in.

Explore the city!

Here's a map and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!

That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar - Or what remains of them. It's painfully obvious that these ships have crash-landed not too long ago and were taken back to the hangar for repairs. You were assigned to one of them and its doors will open for you and let you enter if you wish. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but as neither of them look as if they will be leaving anytime soon that doesn't really matter either way.

Maybe look around anyway. Or try your hand at some repairs?

Try the network!

Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...

These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Wildcard!

You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

Exploring

This wasn't where she needed to be. When she had first realized she wasn't on Earth Usagi had felt a surge of hope that this was where she would find Mercury and Jupiter. They couldn't be dead, she had to believe.

But now she knew that wasn't what brought her here but she refused to give up hope anyway. She would find them.

But until then it was up to her to be on her own and be strong. Everyone would tell her not to cry and that they would always be with her in some way

And as always she's not really looking where she's going, caught up in looking instead- at least until her shoe catches on an uneven part of the street sending her face first into the ground in the most undignified way.

Spaceship

Maybe she wasn't supposed to be here but when the door just slides open she can resist peeking in, leaning in.

So far so good. She has a feeling that she doesn't belong here but that doesn't stop her from venturing in. Wariness turns into delight when she makes her way into the galley.

Alright it may be rude to just help herself but she would ask forgiveness later since she was starving. And that delight is swiftly replaced with disappointment when what she thought was an ice cream dispenser only provided a gross paste type food.

"They shouldn't fool people like that!"

Huff.

Good thing she wasn't the only one around, right? While the young woman was looking around another woman was coming out of a building. A nice, tall woman, easily six and a half feet, with blue skin and snow white hair and muscles for days, who catches Usagi with a single arm under her shoulders to hold her up.

"Care should be taken on these streets. They are very uneven."

Totally fine

One minute the ground is right there and the next she's being pulled up into the air.

Only then does she look up at her gallant rescuer to see a blue skinned woman who was holding her as if Usagi weighed no more than feather.

"Then I'm lucky that I had someone to come to the rescue just in time!" As soon she's firmly on her feet once me she has a chance to look at Lauri-Ell, giving her a warm smile.

Of course she weighs more than a feather. Just not, you know, a lot more on the grand scale of things. The warm smile was met with an equally warm and wide one.

"It is my honor to have rendered assistance. I am Lauri-Ell of the Kree, and you are new if my eyes are not wrong."

"I'm Usagi Tsukino. Of Earth. I just arrived a little bit ago. I'm a bit lost though I'm not sure where I'm going."

She never lets her smile falter though after losing her friends and finding herself in a new world was a lot to process in less than an hour. She could use the company and Lauri-Ell seemed nice.

"I could use something to eat, would you like to join me?"

Usagi Tsukino. Her name sounds so very different from all of the human names that Lauri-Ell has heard before. It might be interesting to process.

"I would happily guide you to some food," Lauri-Ell offered with a wide smile. "And it is nice to meet you, Usagi. It is interesting, how many people here come from or are associated with Earth. It is a pleasure to meet another."

"I'm so glad!" Usagi lets Lauri-Ell lead the way, trying to hide the loud grumble of her stomach with a soft laugh. She couldn't remember the last time she had eaten, perhaps just some toast when she had been on the way out the door that morning before school.

"Is this Earth then?" There is a slight inflection of her voice- this isn't like any version of the future that she's familiar with but with everything that's happened, there is a good chance that the future she had been to would never come to pass.

"No, most definitely not Earth," Lauri-Ell says as she walks, carefully picking around rubble to help guide the young woman. "It is a plant called Agra 10. We have been asked to help heal it, so the people that belong here might live. I am sorry they brought you."

Very sorry. A young woman like this should not be in a dangerous world such a this one. She should be home, safe and comfortable.

"I have been there before. To New York City. My sister lives there. She protects people."

"It's alright. I've met you so I'm not alone here at least." She wants to be with her friends but if this is where she is needed then Usagi cannot abandon this planet and its people.

She would have faith in everyone to protect Earth while she was here. She would make them proud.

"New York City...that's in America? Your sister must be amazing, to fight to protect people. What's it like where you're from?"

Not alone. Well that works. Lauri-Ell smiles warmly at the girl and nods. She will absolutely help keep this young woman company until she has others to do it as well.

"Yes, my sister is very amazing. She is a super hero," Lauri-Ell grinned as she walked forward, and there, a small building. A good building. The place where she knows food will be.

"I am not exactly 'from' anywhere. So I suppose that at this point, I could be counted as 'from here'. But as you clearly mean what am I, I am Kree, of the Kree-Skrull Alliance."

Usagi tries to ignore how her stomach growls, keeping up with the other woman with a bounce in her step despite the situation.

"Kree- I've never heard of that before. What are your people like?" Usagi can't help but be curious, Lauri-Ell fascinated her and Usagi had decided that they were friends already.

"We were a warrior culture," Lauri-Ell answered. It was fare kinder than the full truth at once. "I serve as a carrier of our law and justice for the Emperor."

When they reached the door to the diner, she held it open for the young woman.

"There are often foods laid out on the counter there for anyone, made of natural and native things. You may eat as you need, though all must share food brought from the greenhouse and prepared by the people who volunteer here."

One should always be careful that there is food for others, in other words, unless there's clearly another course being prepared, then you might as well finish things.

"You carry a heavy burden on your shoulders. Your duty is admirable though- fighting for justice is never easy." Usagi's tone shifts for a moment to softer, as if it were Neo-Queen Serenity speaking with kind understanding but the moment is fleeting. Usagi is a teenage girl once more in the next breath as she bounces into the diner, letting go of Lauri-Ell's arm.

It wasn't food that she was used to, definitely not her first choice but she doesn't care. She picks up a plate carefully and settles at a time but waits for her new friend to get her food before eating.

SPACESHIP!!!

Quill strolled in, hair wet, pulling a shirt over his head post-shower. At the sound of an unknown voice, he popped his head through the collar and squinted at her.

"Fool people how?"

Usagi leans over, taking her gaze off of the deceptive paste dispenser to peer at Quill. She gives him a smile but there is still a bit of huffiness. She had wanted a yummy snack and all she had found was some gross gunk. It was really too much!

"If they're going to put gross stuff in something that looks like an ice cream machine there should be a sign or else someone is going to eat it."

Surely that stuff wasn't for eating. That would be devastating.

"Oh! That crap! Yeah, no, don't eat that. We've got a whole damn diner you can get much better food at. Including ice cream. I can show you the way over."

He sticks out a damp hand with a grin. "Name's Quill. Welcome to Temba. It's not the best but it's totally also not the worst by a long shot."

Usagi can't help but blush- a cute guy is a cute guy after all-and she takes his hand with a soft laugh. "I'm Usagi Tsukino."

And then her attention snaps to the words ice cream and she lights up. Sure she's in a strange place, she can figure it out later but she's starving and there is ice cream. "It's my lucky day then! I'm starving and I can't resist ice cream."

"Nice to meet'cha, Usagi. Diner's not far from here if you don't mind walkin'. And I think Shiro keeps sandwich stuff in the fridge, but ... maybe don't take that without asking him first."

"For ice cream? I think I can do it." Especially with a cute guy like Peter, she can't help but bounce a little- she could use some delicious ice cream after the last few hours before she arrived here.

"Let's go then!"

[puddledancer]

"Okay, then." He grins, gesturing to the galley door. "After you. Take a left, the gangplank down to the hangar isn't far after that."

The ship is small, a little cramped, but easy to navigate. Once they're outside, Peter stretches a little and looks around the hangar at all the other ships.

"Did you wake up on the ship, or did you come here from somewhere else out there, just pokin' around?"

"I woke up somewhere else and decided to explore. This ship was the only one that would open so I let myself in to explore." Like curious teenagers in seek of good food often do. She doesn't make any indication of apologizing, she had the good fortune of meeting a cute guy and there would some actual food in a bit.

She follows his direction, turning left as she turns to face him. "What about you? Do you live here?"

"If it's the only one that'd open, that means you're on the crew." He grinned at her, "The Starduck is my ship, too, so if we ever go anywhere, I'll head to the hangar, but ... you don't have to live there. You can claim one of the other empty buildings, or share one with somebody else. I grabbed this super sweet abandoned arcade on the other side of town. Fixin' it up. Hopefully it'll work again eventually."

He points to a spot on the horizon, the road that leads to the blue sector of Temba. "Down that way, a little ways down the street from the museum they're fixing up to be a temple. What kinda stuff did you do back home?"

"An arcade?!" Usagi lights up at the mention of that, stars in her eyes. She hasn't had a chance to go hang out at the arcade with her friends in a while and she missed playing the games.

"I'll help you, I'm the best at video games!" No, she really wasn't, but she tried and that's what mattered.

"I'm in my first year of high school. I like snacks, reading manga, annnd sleeping in," she says holding up her fingers and counting off each point with a big smile. "What about you?"

"Sleeping in is the best," he agreed enthusiastically. "Snacks are definitely second best. I'm a big Combo guy, you ever had Combos? They're great. Pretzels with cheesy powdered stuff in the middle. And they flavor the cheese so it tastes like stuff, like pizza or bacon. Pretty awesome."

He can't help but feel a little jealous when she mentions high school. He'd missed out on it entirely, and always looked forward to it thanks to movies like Breakfast Club and Footloose.

"I'm a space pirate," he said proudly. "Well, sorta. We only steal from people who stole it t' begin with and return it to the people it belongs to, but we're not police. More like ... Robin Hood, or Lone Starr." Let it be known, mun is using Spaceballs to stand in for Star Wars because half the cast isn't cool with 4th-walling. "High school, though, man. I missed out on that. Is it as fun as it looked as a kid?"
