SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Spring in Temba and Sh'Ka
Despite the sparkling cover, young plants have begun to sprout, young green stems peeking out between pink and red and purple.
Sh'Ka, also, has been freed of its more icy coverage. The glitter here is a lot finer and the layer of it covering the overgrown city not nearly as thick as in Temba. Instead, the glittery mist every move brushes up in the air hangs there much longer and seems reluctant, even, to settle back down.
Despite those differences both cities are currently very, very sparkly...

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Visit the spaceships!
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Marc's voice got his attention, stopping him in his tracks to give him a chance to take another breath while he calmed him down. "Y-yeah, right, steps," he stammered, licking his lips as his eyes darted about the area.
He wasn't sure if he was hallucinating or if it really was glittery, but he tried to think. "Um. We weren't here, wherever here is. We were in Cairo." He stole a glance at the reflection in the water. "Right?"
no subject
He paused, hesitant to suggest his next thought. Things were already strange enough that he wasn't sure what to think anymore.
"We're... we're not dead, are we?"
no subject
Perhaps it wasn't the best time for a factoid on Ancient Egypt. Thankfully the interruptions to his already-babbling thought process made him pause, forcing him to consider what Marc brought up.
"I...I don't think so." That hadn't even crossed his mind and yet... "At least I hope not."
no subject
"...now that's something we agree on, anyway," he muttered, looking around again as Steven did. "Look, just give me the body. Situation's changed, we need to figure out where we are and what happened-"
no subject
"-No, not doing that," Steven cut in with a shake of his head, almost spinning on his heel before stopping himself to look at Marc. "I'm figuring this out, I'm going to take a look around and find help instead of doing this- "
As he tore his gaze away from the water, his words stuttered when he saw the orb. And his brow knitted. "Oy. What's this?" he asked no one in particular, cautiously walking over to it.
no subject
Marc tossed his hands up as Steven started to step away, ever stubborn. "Don't make me punch us again," he warned, not that he was sure he'd follow through with it. They both needed to be aware here, wherever here was. "We have to get back to Layla, we left her! Steven!"
He caught sight of the thing the same time Steven did, brow furrowing. "Steven, wait..."
no subject
We left her!
They did. They didn't mean to. They needed to go back. But he was already enamored with the light, reaching out a hand to touch it-
What Steven didn't expect was the flood of information after he made contact with the orb. Was he screaming on the inside or the outside? He couldn't tell until it was over.
no subject
"What. The hell was that?!"
no subject
Steven backed away from the orb, almost stumbling into the fountain again before catching himself on its edge. He then leaned forward, blowing out a breath as he tried to fight the urge to hurl on his shoes. "-That was a lot to process and oh I think I'm gonna be sick- "
no subject
"There was...it was, what, a documentary? Shoved right into our head? Names, this place, this planet- aw sh-"
He dropped his face into his hands. They were back at square one again. This wasn't happening, this couldn't be happening. "No, aw hell no, are we on some alien planet?! Is that what this is? What was it, Ager...Agra Ten, and this, this place here-"
no subject
It basically was a documentary on fast-forward, yet everything was clear enough to understand without getting too lost in the deep.
"-this is Temba," he finished the sentence, finally feeling his heart rate steadily beat back into its normal pattern. "This used to be the home of the Agrii, and there were more cities like this-"
no subject
Come back home. How long had this place been abandoned for? The newly acquired information suggested that it had been a very long time. The notion that they were suddenly saddled with trying to save the fate of an entirely different planet and people was a little much to swallow in one sitting.
no subject
Everything was worn and partially destroyed. Yet there were signs of renewal - of life that still thrived despite how fatal those storms were to its former inhabitants.
He swallowed at the lump in his throat, his mind also fixed on the thought of the responsibility he and Marc shared here in this new place. He felt so tired, so very tired, and sitting there wasn't helping relieve that burden.
"...So what do we do with this?" It was hard to control the tremor in his voice, but he kept it as even as he could.
no subject
"...I don't know," he quietly admitted. It was easy to let themselves be overwhelmed by this, and he knew Steven was right at the brink of it, they both were. He had to pull them back.
"...but we are going to figure this out so we can get back. Okay?"
no subject
It meant he wasn't facing it alone.
Steven found encouragement in that statement. Bleary-eyed and sniffling, he did his best to compose himself by readjusting the collar of his hooded jacket, smoothing it out as he inhaled deeply, blowing it all out after a few beats.
"...Yeah. Alright," he answered. "We'll figure it out."

After searching in vain for another life form to cross his path, he stood up, patting himself down like he forgot something.
no subject
"Not quite how I imagined it..." Marc murmured to himself. "There has to be some signs of life. This fountain's still running, that's...that's a good sign, right?" He might be grasping at straws but he hoped it wasn't just due to aliens having superb plumbing that outlasted their buildings despite years of being abandoned. "What're you doing? We should check the buildings- here, give me the body, we don't know what all's out there."
no subject
Steven trailed off as he finally hit something, digging into his pocket to pull out the device. "Ah, found it- wait. This isn't my phone." Holding it up to his face, he poked at it. "Marc, this isn't my phone, where is my phone- " He was barely listening, making a face at the limited choices the device had on its interface. "What does this even say? 'Mass sages'? 'He Row Come You Knee Cay Shun'??"
no subject
"What? What language are you- that is a terrible accent, come on- you know English."
no subject
Although he sounded a little delighted about it. He wasn't really listening as he continued rattling on.
"It's not just bad writing, it's all phonetics - and literal spelling in some cases - but if there's a network..." An idea struck. "-You know what, maybe we should give the network a go before we set about crawling 'round these buildings, yeah?"
no subject
"Wait, wait, wait. Where did you get that? Was it just there?" As Steven deciphered the terrible word puzzle, Marc started to pace. He jerked his head up at the mention of a network.
"You think that's really a good idea? We don't know anything except what that ball showed us. Giving us something like that seems a little too convenient, you know?"
no subject
"I don't know, it was on me. And I see your point, but don't you think we can use a little convenience? After all we've been through so far?" Steven could use a break. "Besides, it can't hurt to try."
He said this while waving the device around, wiggling it in his hand as if it would convince him.
no subject
"Or, or- and hear me out on this- or it could be a trap and all that stuff about aliens losing their home just completely made up to lull us into some false sense of security so that the real aliens or whatever who're out there can come and just you know. Kill us." Eat their brains. Whatever it is aliens do.
no subject
Steven had hoped calling someone would give them a leg up, but he really couldn't say Marc was wrong. He had been cornered in the museum and removed from his apartment - two separate occasions in which he should have been safe.
He briefly puffed out his cheeks, toying with the device as he sighed. "True enough."
