Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Fall in Temba and Sh'Ka

While both cities remain overgrown by plant life, the He Row's efforts to tame the wild and partially dangerous growths has paid off. No longer do any of the plants pose any active danger and as summer turns into fall, green leaves again begin turning light blue and purple before falling off their respective trees. The temperatures are cooling down in both cities and any fruit bearing trees and plants that are due to be harvested are far more fruitful this year.

Now Temba has decidedly fewer trees than Sh'Ka. And while still numerous in both cities, Temba's trees are also much smaller and may not necessarily of the same species. The leaves in Temba fall gently. The leaves in Sh'Ka, however? They turn to stone while still attached to their branches and suddenly fall to the floor from high, high up above.

Thud.

They shatter once they hit the ground, which may explain why you haven't really seen any leaf-shaped rocks around. You still may want to try and avoid getting hit too much by this slowly increasing hail of stone leaves.

Explore the city Temba!

Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!

That's right, there are currently several small spaceships sitting in the hangar. Not all of them may be around when you check out the building, as one of the pilots may be using one of them to fly over to Sh'Ka. But there should still enough of them around for you to inspect and maybe wonder about. However, only one of them will open its doors for you. Do you dare to step inside? Check out the protein paste or maybe even meet one of your crew mates?

The two currently crewless ships are open for anyone to step inside and have a look around, maybe even use for a nap.

Try the network!

Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...

These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Wildcard!

You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

"We're told the probable locals can't survive here anymore."

He'd held Ga Re when she was affected by a storm energy in space. He believed them.

"Some in the hotel. Some on the ships. Some make their own homes."

"That is a shame." Hendrik replied, thinking of how Zwaardsrust was abandoned.

However he listened to Tommy when he spoke of making homes. "So it is up to someone to make or find their own home here."

The knight sighed. That meant searching for one after he was done here. "Very well. If that is the way it is, then I will do the same."

"Yeah," he said with a shrug. "We're not really all that many people. It's hard to make sure there's space for everyone. You could find that Reeve guy, he might be able to tell you where things are already suitable."

But he isn't going to force the dude to do anything. Instead he starts water for tea.

"So, you bring any skills from back home here?"

Hendrik nodded. "I will see if I can locate this person that you mention." It didn't occur to him to try the device, it was just going to be him searching around.

Blue eyes looked at Tommy as he started water and thought over the question. There were so many ways that he could reply, but he went with his skills.

"I have wielded a sword since I was a boy, and I am a knight back home." An oath sworn companion of the servant of light in order to save their world was more correct, but he wasn't getting into that here.

He paused. "Are there others that wield such weapons here?"

"Another warrior then," Tommy said as he got out tea leaves. "You're not alone then. There are more than a few here. Let's see, swords might be that Gladio dude. Cayde and Felwinter are more guns. Oh! Cal does, but it's a laser sword."

"Guns?" Hendrik asked, even as he was relieved that there were other warriors here such as himself. "And what is a laser sword?"

These were things he'd never heard of and was curious to learn more about this unfamiliar world he'd found himself in.

"A sword that is a laser," Tommy said, because he didn't understand the way that the whole thing worked, thanks. "You could ask Cal if you wanted."

The knight still had no idea what that all meant and so he nodded politely. "If I see such a weapon, I may inquire as to how it works."

There was no weapon like that back home but it wouldn't hurt to learn new weaponry all the same while he was here.

"It's probably got lots of science words to it," Tommy sighs. He was learning engineering, but he knew he didn't get this shit at all.

"I'm only rich in mint tea and fruit teas. Any preference?"

If Tommy didn't understand, Hendrik wasn't sure if he would although he would try. It was like when Jasper read to him. If there was a word he didn't understand he may or may not inquire as to what it meant if he couldn't understand the word used in context.

The mention of teas was a welcome one and the knight nodded. "A fruit tea sounds as if it would fit."

"Alright," Tommy said, starting to sort through his mixes. At last he brought something out and sprinkled it in a cup. "It tastes like berries. Hopefully that works."

And then he poured hot water over it, before sliding it over.

"Let it sit for a minute, and then sip lightly. I don't have a lot of strainers for the leaves, sorry."

He sat back when Tommy came over with the tea and whatever else he was attempting to do with it.

Hendrik nodded at the instructions and of course would keep them firmly in mind as his head shook. "It is no trouble at all. I appreciate the hospitality."

The knight hadn't counted on finding anyone friendly here in this place, so he considered himself quite fortunate.

"We don't got much here, but I can at least have this. I can make sure people get what they need in this respect."

And that's actually a lot, coming from him.

The knight nodded. "It is a most welcome thing when one does not know how they will make it here. But your service kindles hope, which is needed here."

Does it? Hope? Well Tommy wasn't expecting that. It almost made him proud.

"I figured I owed it to people. I need more food than other people, asking them to take care of it for me would be unreasonable."

The knight took another sip of his drink and placed it down with a nod at what he heard. His leather gloved hand cradled itself around his spoon in preparation of another bite of the stew.

"That is an admirable trait. You take care of it for both yourself and for others."

If only others back home were so enlightened.

Yeah. He did. And being called admirable has Tommy blushing. Man don't fluster him like that. He wouldn't know what to do.

"Not like a lot of people have time for it. But Radley is gonna start helping, and Lark does too. So more hands and all that."

The knight has no idea what he said to make the other blush like that, but he just quietly sipped his drink and hoped he didn't cause any undue harm.

Hearing that more were helping made him nod. "So they will assist you in cooking?"

"Yeah, when they can. Radley used to work at a restaurant. So that's a major help. Some people come in to chop from time to time, or will work the greenhouse here and there. We do our best."

That had him pause and consider. He had no culinary skills to speak of and no real experience in the way of growing things either. "You say people come in to help prepare the meals that you serve?"

If he could just figure out how to help here.

“Sometimes,” Tommy agreed with a nod. “But they don’t have to. There’s other stuff that has to happen. Some people are medics. Some people patrol. Some people make things.”

And some people go make messes, but that’s Tony, and Cayde. And sometimes Jon.

"In that you are speaking of those data points, correct?" It was the only logical conclusion he could come to. He had yet to touch one because he wasn't sure if touching one would somehow have him come to harm, even if he was sure somehow that it wouldn't.

"Bingo. I've had a few until now, but I always come back to Agriculture. I can do the work of several farmers so it's wise."

As wise as he could give to this place.

A smile crossed his face as he thought of the windmill painting on his wall in his chambers back home. He always imagined fields of plenty and had pictured such when he got to stay at the Inn there in Zwaardsrust.

"Farming is a noble profession. For a farmer may feed himself, but he does share his bounty at a market that people may otherwise might not have the skills to cultivate themselves."

Noble? Tommy looked at the man like he was crazy.

"Dude, I'm no really accused of nobility often."
