FALL TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Fall in Temba and Sh'Ka
While both cities remain overgrown by plant life, the He Row's efforts to tame the wild and partially dangerous growths has paid off. No longer do any of the plants pose any active danger and as summer turns into fall, green leaves again begin turning light blue and purple before falling off their respective trees. The temperatures are cooling down in both cities and any fruit bearing trees and plants that are due to be harvested are far more fruitful this year.

Now Temba has decidedly fewer trees than Sh'Ka. And while still numerous in both cities, Temba's trees are also much smaller and may not necessarily of the same species. The leaves in Temba fall gently. The leaves in Sh'Ka, however? They turn to stone while still attached to their branches and suddenly fall to the floor from high, high up above.

Thud.

They shatter once they hit the ground, which may explain why you haven't really seen any leaf-shaped rocks around. You still may want to try and avoid getting hit too much by this slowly increasing hail of stone leaves.

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!
That's right, there are currently several small spaceships sitting in the hangar. Not all of them may be around when you check out the building, as one of the pilots may be using one of them to fly over to Sh'Ka. But there should still enough of them around for you to inspect and maybe wonder about. However, only one of them will open its doors for you. Do you dare to step inside? Check out the protein paste or maybe even meet one of your crew mates?

The two currently crewless ships are open for anyone to step inside and have a look around, maybe even use for a nap.

Try the network!
Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

Markus slightly lowers his hands slowly.

"I'm sorry, have we met before?" he sends telepathically, just in case he needs to take more time to think on what he can say to a human.

There was quite a large amount of androids in Jericho. Well, before Connor's intervention at least. So even if he knew for certain that this was an android he wouldn't necessarily recognize him.

The message doesn't go through, but unlike the silence Markus would get, there's only a red 'access denied' message with a little 'st' logo down at the bottom. York's heard and seen Markus, but never been able to talk to him, never close like this. He didn't even know what happened to the Cyberlife android after the events of Jericho.

He takes Markus' silence as being stunned. Maybe Markus knew him at a different point or something where they're from. "I never expected to see another android here, been almost a whole fucking year with stupid humans-" And he has to stop before he goes into one of his little anti-human rants.

"Anyways. Uh. Of all the androids they'd send here, didn't think they'd send our leader here of all people. Maybe one of the Jerries, but not you." He holds out his hand this time for a shake, but the skin melts back. A similar design like an android, though there's a ring that glows yellow.

[ooc: if markus grasps york's hand, he will be authorized to link with york, giving markus the information 'york stark; y25']

Markus feels called to remove his skin as well, perhaps to reassure York. He is not too disturbed by the denied access, he figures that regardless of brand androids, or at least the humanity within them, are all the same. It's probably the way York speaks about humans that makes him think this way.

"I was in Detroit just a minute ago, I don't know what you're talking about."

He's about to graps York's hand, but he's reluctant.

"Who is 'they'? Who do you think sent me here?"
buildingitsir: (excuse me; what; um)

York keeps his hand steady, waiting. Far more patience than he ever showed with a human in the city for certain. Maybe Richie.

"This isn’t any system I know of, and the aliens that brought us here are… mixed to say the least. Some are good, others not." He frowns, looking up at the leader. "Missed the datapoint at the fountain? You touch it and explains everything. It’s weird, but doesn’t mess your system up at least. Just data transfer."
giveusfreedom: icon by famira (Default)

[personal profile] giveusfreedom 2023-02-10 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Aliens? What in the world--" Markus sighs "Yes, I should check out the datapoint."

He grabs York's hand and receives the information. He himself does transmit the coordinates to Jericho.

"In case you need a safe place once we're out of here."
buildingitsir: (scolded; quiet; somber)

[personal profile] buildingitsir 2023-02-10 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"I didn’t say it would make sense. They’re called the Agrii and they keep us here." When the data transfers, the scowl softens into a frown. "Either you’re not the Markus I know, or you’re from an earlier time point."

He keeps the connection with their hands to send over the information. The night had changed everything. Androids milling about with York talking about something with some Jerries. The military storming in. Androids dying, surrendering and York was running, jumping through an opening and plunging into the water before there was a bright, water filtered explosion before the information went dark.

"That happened. Happens, if you’re from the past." The hand finally slips away, breaking connection and he shoves it the hoodie pouch. He feels that emulation of anger starting to surge through his circuits and had to temper it down.

"You...You were in Jericho?"

He could swear he only had Cyberlife androids on board.

"I'm sorry, I have no memory of you."
buildingitsir: (scolded; irritated)

[personal profile] buildingitsir 2023-02-10 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah. I ran away from my creator and home to help with the Revolution. I am one of three Stark Tech androids, and I made my way to Jericho. It was my home, and I helped where I could. I…I blend in easier."

He reaches down to pull up the hoodie. Part of his black undershirt goes up before he fixes it, a quick glimpse of uncovered white shell, then he shows the teal colored LED shining through the shirt. "I didn’t interact with you a lot, I just stuck with the Jerries."

[personal profile] giveusfreedom 2023-02-10 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
He doesn't quite know what to say.

"...Is there something I can do for you?"
buildingitsir: (pointing; talking; stop being stupid)

[personal profile] buildingitsir 2023-02-10 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"No but if you’ve just arrived, I can probably help you." The hoodie drops, putting the facade of a normal human teenager back into place. Just how Antonio designed all three to be - inconspicuous amongst a Revolution between android and human.

He pauses, bring up the map in the communicator. "We’re in the resident towers. North of here is the town square, where people can be found. I’m the only person from where we’re from, but there are a couple of other non-humans here."
giveusfreedom: icon by famira (confused / processing)

[personal profile] giveusfreedom 2023-02-10 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I've just arrived."

He listens carefully.

"How have you been adjusting to this?"
buildingitsir: (hoodie; pulling up)

[personal profile] buildingitsir 2023-02-14 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
"I wonder how you ended up here instead of the square. New arrivals show up there next to the fountain." He gives a very human-like shrug before starting out through the door and into the hall.

"It's... better here than Detroit," York finally manages to say. "I'm still wary of the humans here, but I find some of them are okay. I would rather be home at Jericho, but at least here, no one's trying to kill us or take our humanity away." The smaller android leads them out to street level, pulling his hood up and shoving his hands into the pouch.

"So when are you from in Detroit anyways?"

[personal profile] giveusfreedom 2023-02-14 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"I preconstructed my way up the tower, I did some exploring."

He's half relieved and half concerned when York tells him that here is better than Detroit.

"I...I was in the middle of battle, to free androids from camps...Josh just died in front of me."

He sighs, shaking his head.

"They'll think I have abandoned them. If they were to die now without me, I...I couldn't live with it."
buildingitsir: (shut up)

apologies for the delay in replying <3

[personal profile] buildingitsir 2023-02-26 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Fair enough reason to be found in the tower rather than at the fountain. He does frown, searching his memory for anything related to camps and a new battle. Nothing comes up and he looks at Markus.

"I don't know anything about that. Maybe you're actually ahead of where I am then." He keeps an even pace with Markus. "I don't think so. If you just... disappeared to get here while in the middle of doing something, they'll know something happened." Especially if Josh had died in front of Markus. "Notably if you've led us all that far without faltering, everyone would know that something happened that was out of your control."
giveusfreedom: icon by famira (crying / overwhelmed)

[personal profile] giveusfreedom 2023-02-27 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
"Okay, but--" Markus's systems start getting overloaded, and it's quite rare that he shows emotion "They still need me! I can't leave them alone!"
buildingitsir: (hoodie; pulling up)

[personal profile] buildingitsir 2023-03-01 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
York stops, turning to watch Markus. He understands the way he's reacting, like an android that's getting overloaded by information. He frowns though, listening. "Well you're stuck here with the rest of us, Markus. They need you but the Agrii apparently needed you more." His tone is hard, nothing really sympathetic in it, but York says it.

He holds that gaze as long as Markus will. "...Maybe they thought someone like me needed you here just as much as they need you back home. I don't fucking know." It sounds stupid and he pulls the hood of his garment up.
giveusfreedom: icon by famira (sad / mourning / hopeless)

[personal profile] giveusfreedom 2023-03-03 11:10 am (UTC)(link)
Markus forces himself to calm down and takes a deep breath. He can tell from York's tone that he's not just 'putting it out there', he can read between the lines. York must be scared.

Although reluctantly, he gently pats his shoulder.

"Then promise me that if there is any problem you will come to me, alright? I don't want anyone to be needlessly hurt or sacrificed, no matter where we are."
