Spring Test Drive Meme!
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.
- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...
- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found here.
- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.
- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

Or, rather than getting lost again, you can simply step outside the building and follow the path to the fountain. It’s not far. In theory you shouldn’t miss is.

Jon... [ He realizes that this might be a little out of line but- but he worries. A lot. With good reason. ] Have...you been eating well?
no subject
[ He agrees with that, but then... Frowns. And crosses his arms almost defensively. His tone drops a little along with a low sigh. ]
Please, Martin... Don’t ask me that.
[ Don’t ask him if he has been hurting people... ]
no subject
Then it dawns on him. He digs through his pocket, remembering what he came here with. ]
Well, I know it's not much but -- [ He pulls the cassette tape out with a grin. ] A little bit can go a long way, right? I found it on me. Not sure who's it is but... here.
no subject
The sight of the tape makes Jon stare for a moment. Then he gives a small, appreciative smile while almost cautiously reaching for the tape. ]
Thanks, Martin.
I.... I sometimes find... Tapes. In recorders. The recorders never remain, but... The tapes. They help.
[ He still spends most of his time hungry. Though he isn’t willing to hurt anyone here more than he already has. ]
no subject
I know you don't really want to...do that. [ He winces. Realizing that after all the pulling away and drifting to become part of the Lonely that it might seem like a hollow statement.
Martin's hoping he doesn't see it that way. ]
no subject
[ He keeps the tape between his hands, tapping two of his fingers against it idly. ]
I... Appreciate it.
[ Oh. Hi, awkward pause. ]
Maybe just... Keep an eye out for any stray tape recorders?
[ Help him harvest food?
Aaaand he’s turning towards the small desk he has set up in one of the corners, starting to walk over there. ]
B-by the way. Did you know there are actual superheroes here? Aside from Billy?
no subject
Who he's doing it for... would he believe him?
He shifts on his feet, taking a deep breath. ]
That's pretty amazing! I mean I figured Billy might be after the... [ He motions to how he's here in the library now. ] but there's more? You know I shouldn't be surprised considering what we deal with but I'm surprised!
no subject
[ Jon reaches his desk and places the tape on a stack of paper before picking up a- Comic book? Why... Yes. Someone has given him this. No questions allowed.
He takes a moment to regard the colorful piece of printed media. ]
People with- Abilities. But without being monsters... Would be nice to have some back home... right?
[ Though part of him remains wary. And one of the reasons he has hardly told anyone around here much is that he still fears to end up getting hunted down. ]
no subject
It's hard to say isn't it? ]
Oh uh, depend on how their abilities work, wouldn't it? I mean does that mean those with psychic abilities would be an aspect of the Eye or does it imply there is something beyond the Fears?
Am I putting too much thought into this? I mean we're here now and not... and not at home.
no subject
[ Jon clarifies with a gentle sort of patience. ]
For Billy and his brother Tommy it’s simply genetics. They wouldn’t be bound to the Fears. They could... Fight them. Hunt them without feeding the Hunt...
[ Wishful thinking? Perhaps. But it’s a nice though despite... well. ]
no subject
[ But despite that his first thought was does this apply to Agnes? Technically, she was born in fire, would it count? Applying the logic of a world like Billy’s to theirs was just making his head hurt. ]
Billy seems nice.
no subject
[ Jon confirms that piece easily as he finally turns around Gleitbahn the comic book in hand. Tough he does add a little shrug before addressing it. ]
At least as long as he isn’t under the influence of parasitic, rage-inducing bugs.
[ You wanted to hear that, right? ]
no subject
[ Wait. Wait. Did Jon just say--]
Oh no. Nope. No. Did you say parasitic, rage-inducing bugs? Do I have to worry about another Prentiss situation?
[ Please let him go back home if that's the case. He spent so long trapped in his apartment and then lived in the archives for what? To be harassed by WORMS AGAIN? ]
no subject
[ He’s bringing up a placating hand. ]
-don’t worry. At least we- I- don’t think so. They’re bugs, yes. And they make people aggressive. But it’s... only been a few isolated cases.
no subject
[ Technically! She was the only avatar of the Corruption at the time! You know, before they read about anyone else. ]
Is it easier to...well... cure? Do we need to find CO2?
Put that corkscrew away, Martin!
[ He trails off with a vague, one-handed gesture. ]
It's like removing a tick.
[ No corkscrews needed. ]
NOPE. Safety measure now.
[ That's good! Just burn the whole place down. Why, oh why did the Corruption have to find its way here in some sort of sense? That's just. That's just not right. ]
It's just...disconcerting is all.
no subject
See that little frown? See it? That's a frown. ]
Please... Don't cause any more destruction to this city. We are- You know. Trying to rebuild it?
[ Though he is getting the feeling that leaving Martin and Cayde alone for too long might end up... Badly. ]
Right. That reminds me-
[ That Martin still hasn't touched the data point. ]
Rebuilding. That's part of why the Agrii brought us here. Please don't ask me what you or even me are supposed to be useful for in regards of rebuilding a city, but the Agrii- Our captors... Well. I'm not sure they quite know what they even need in their... Heroes.
[ Or He Rows, much rather. It's still at least a decade too early before Jon will accept even remotely being considered anyone's hero. ]
no subject
[ Look he wasn't going to actually burn down anything. Martin, however, sighs once Jon starts explaining why they're there. ]
So we've been kidnapped to help them... rebuild? That seems strange, don't you think?
no subject
For now he will let that particular topic slide - and maybe keep you away from his lighter. ]
It is strange, yes. But for now there is little we can do. Not unless we unearth more information.
no subject
Right? ]
Well, between the Archivist and his assistant... we should be able to find some information, yeah? [ He's at least optimistic about that might. ]
no subject
Though aside from that... It's that optimism that makes Jon hesitate. ]
...should we.
[ Yeah. That's a pause. A pause framed with a frown. ]
Martin... The rules of our world... Don't quite apply here, remember?
[ And if he is entirely honest, he's been feeling rather useless so far. Often due to being the Archivist. ]
no subject
It just means we'll have to do things the old fashioned way. We catalog and sort the data that we find and get our hands dirty.
[ He sighs, rubbing his face. ]
no subject
[ Beat. ]
Tried to do.
[ When not busy with the more trivial like... Survival things. ]
