This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Fall in Temba and Sh'Ka

While both cities remain overgrown by plant life, the He Row's efforts to tame the wild and partially dangerous growths has paid off. No longer do any of the plants pose any active danger and as summer turns into fall, green leaves again begin turning light blue and purple before falling off their respective trees. The temperatures are cooling down in both cities and any fruit bearing trees and plants that are due to be harvested are far more fruitful this year.

Now Temba has decidedly fewer trees than Sh'Ka. And while still numerous in both cities, Temba's trees are also much smaller and may not necessarily of the same species. The leaves in Temba fall gently. The leaves in Sh'Ka, however? They turn to stone while still attached to their branches and suddenly fall to the floor from high, high up above.

Thud.

They shatter once they hit the ground, which may explain why you haven't really seen any leaf-shaped rocks around. You still may want to try and avoid getting hit too much by this slowly increasing hail of stone leaves.

Explore ~~the city~~ Temba!

Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!

That's right, there are currently several small spaceships sitting in the hangar. Not all of them may be around when you check out the building, as one of the pilots may be using one of them to fly over to Sh'Ka. But there should still enough of them around for you to inspect and maybe wonder about. However, only one of them will open its doors for you. Do you dare to step inside? Check out the protein paste or maybe even meet one of your crew mates?

The two currently crewless ships are open for anyone to step inside and have a look around, maybe even use for a nap.

Try the network!

Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...

These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Wildcard!

You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

There's a nod at Tommy's smile and encouraging words. Those were things he hadn't expected in a place such as this. But the man was far too kind.

"I cannot speak for others here, but I will do what I can to offer assistance."

That was something he was used to doing at least.

"You'll mostly fit in then. Well, except for how you speak. It's a bit more formal."

And Tommy just can't keep up with that. He can orient them for the diner though. Good place to be, the diner. Lots of food to be cooked.

Hendrik was silent about the formality of his speech. He was a knight of Heliodor, and speaking this way was the way he was. But if he stood out due to it and others commented he would endeavour to attempt a more lax speech pattern.

So he nodded and kept walking, unsure what to say about it.

"Here we are," Tommy said, pushing the door of the diner open. And in a blink he was gone, with noise coming from behind the counter. A moment later he popped his head up to put a bowl on the counter.

"Stew works for you, right? I don't have any meat in this pot though."

Hendrik nodded his thanks at the door being opened for him even if he wasn't used to a gesture like that. So he strode in behind the man and looked around. It was then that he went to say something to Tommy who then disappeared for a moment and then looked down at the contents.

Looking back up at Tommy, he nodded. "This is far more than I would have found on my own, so I thank you."

"Not a problem," he said as he moved to get a ladle to pour stew into the bowl. "I try and help people."

"In that you are indeed most kind." Hendrik replied, patiently waiting on this. But even this small part was most welcoming and the knight had thought himself alone before. He couldn't count this man as a friend, but at least he showed kindness and now hospitality.

Yeah, friends are hard.

"We don't have money here. So, uh, guess you should put that out of your mind. Some people still get weird about it, but it's not like we have much of a choice."

He sighed thoughtfully. "If there is no coin in this realm, then how does one repay for goods and services? By some sort of barter system perhaps?"

This was going to be tough.

"We help each other," Tommy answered, shrugging. "IT's what we've got. You can work with that, right?"

The tall knight nodded. "Indeed. I can work with that." That went along with his knight's oath to an extent and even though he was nowhere near his castle or master he would still act in accordance with the knightly code.

"Good. I get tired when people get weird about it. Not your fault. It's just been so long for me."

Too many years, and Tommy was just tired.

The knight shook his head and attempted to eat what he had in front of him as Tommy's words went around in his mind. After a few moments, he looked up.

"I cannot fathom as to why people would not wish to help each other here in such a strange place."

"You assume people are nice and supportive. And some people here are."

And some people push other people into open mines. Or threaten kids. But that's not a matter for today. Today he wants to help the guy adjust. It's almost like Tommy's the welcoming committee.

The knight sighed. "I assumed as such since this is not a home world of anyone who is brought here." In his mind it gave no one a reason to misbehave. Of course he was learning differently.

He continued to eat his stew as he turned Tommy's words over in his mind. "Where do people live?"

"We're told the probable locals can't survive here anymore."

He'd held Ga Re when she was affected by a storm energy in space. He believed them.

"Some in the hotel. Some on the ships. Some make their own homes."

"That is a shame." Hendrik replied, thinking of how Zwaardsrust was abandoned.

However he listened to Tommy when he spoke of making homes. "So it is up to someone to make or find their own home here."

The knight sighed. That meant searching for one after he was done here. "Very well. If that is the way it is, then I will do the same."

"Yeah," he said with a shrug. "We're not really all that many people. It's hard to make sure there's space for everyone. You could find that Reeve guy, he might be able to tell you where things are already suitable."

But he isn't going to force the dude to do anything. Instead he starts water for tea.

"So, you bring any skills from back home here?"

Hendrik nodded. "I will see if I can locate this person that you mention." It didn't occur to him to try the device, it was just going to be him searching around.

Blue eyes looked at Tommy as he started water and thought over the question. There were so many ways that he could reply, but he went with his skills.

"I have wielded a sword since I was a boy, and I am a knight back home." An oath sworn companion of the servant of light in order to save their world was more correct, but he wasn't getting into that here.

He paused. "Are there others that wield such weapons here?"

"Another warrior then," Tommy said as he got out tea leaves. "You're not alone then. There are more than a few here. Let's see, swords might be that Gladio dude. Cayde and Felwinter are more guns. Oh! Cal does, but it's a laser sword."

"Guns?" Hendrik asked, even as he was relieved that there were other warriors here such as himself. "And what is a laser sword?"

These were things he'd never heard of and was curious to learn more about this unfamiliar world he'd found himself in.

"A sword that is a laser," Tommy said, because he didn't understand the way that the whole thing worked, thanks. "You could ask Cal if you wanted."

The knight still had no idea what that all meant and so he nodded politely. "If I see such a weapon, I may inquire as to how it works."

There was no weapon like that back home but it wouldn't hurt to learn new weaponry all the same while he was here.

"It's probably got lots of science words to it," Tommy sighs. He was learning engineering, but he knew he didn't get this shit at all.

"I'm only rich in mint tea and fruit teas. Any preference?"

If Tommy didn't understand, Hendrik wasn't sure if he would although he would try. It was like when Jasper read to him. If there was a word he didn't understand he may or may not inquire as to what it meant if he couldn't understand the word used in context.

The mention of teas was a welcome one and the knight nodded. "A fruit tea sounds as if it would fit."
