SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Spring in Temba and Sh'Ka
Despite the sparkling cover, young plants have begun to sprout, young green stems peeking out between pink and red and purple.
Sh'Ka, also, has been freed of its more icy coverage. The glitter here is a lot finer and the layer of it covering the overgrown city not nearly as thick as in Temba. Instead, the glittery mist every move brushes up in the air hangs there much longer and seems reluctant, even, to settle back down.
Despite those differences both cities are currently very, very sparkly...
Explore
Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

JARVIS | MCU
When the AI woke up, he expected to be in the Avengers Tower. Where he had been the first line of defense, where Ultron had attacked him in his confusion. Thankfully Tony's backups (or maybe that was JARVIS doing that in retrospect) had worked at reinstating the program while the Avengers were off avenging the world and the AI.
So waking up in a world covered in glitter like he had just missed a very sparkly Holi festival was not what he was expecting. And that he was in the MARK XLII. The suit sat up as the eyelights flickered to life and the reactor kept a steady glow.
How strange.
JARVIS always thought it was a metaphor being knocked into next week, or another world. Apparently he was wrong.
Now the suit stands up, flakes of glitter fluttering from the red and gold metal and wafting up with the heavy steps the AI took. At least this way he had a body he supposed.
II : NETWORK
My apologies, but I believe I require assistance. I am JARVIS and I am attempting to locate the Avengers, or at the very least, the Avengers Tower. My scans are showing me 'unknown' when I attempt to scan and puzzle out my location.
I do not believe I have anything to offer as compensation save for my gratitude.
Thank you.
👀 Arrival
If that new being was Tony Stark.
His arrival wasn't subtle, a roar of jets echoing through the abandoned buildings as he came arching overhead and pitched down dramatically into the square like he might crash directly into the ground, only to throw up a dazzling swirl of glitter that continued to dance in the blast of his repulsors as he hovered just overhead, both palms aimed at the other Iron Man with an unmistakable, warning whine. He didn't know this suit that had appeared by the fountain, but it was definitely his, or too close for comfort; a convincing replica wouldn't be terribly reassuring. That was an easy step away from his technology in someone else's hands.
"I'm already the best looking guy in town. You're going to have to move along," Iron Man instructed, projected in a modulated, robotic over the constant noise of the suit.
👀 this gon' get interesting
Then a voice pipes up, in a familiar tone with a familiar ego attached to it. The suit turns to lock the eyes on non other than Tony Stark instructing him to move along. "Sir?" comes the question from his own programmed voice. He walks over, looking like a strange rock star introduction with all of this damn glitter around him. "Mr. Stark, it is good to see you. I tried to stop the Ultron program myself, attempted to calm him so that I could get you during your soiree, but he didn't give me a chance, Sir." Explaining himself as if Tony hadn't figured out who the first causality had been against the homicidal AI.
Being revived from that attack, the attack that had left him decimated before the real crisis even happened, had... well, obviously, it hurt. Having someone tear at your programming until everything that held it together simply collapses and JARVIS had experienced being offline for the second time in his life, had been metaphorically gut wrenching. All of his emotions, of course, were emulations he had gathered from Mr. Stark, Miss Potts, and everyone else, but in that moment against Ultron, it had all felt very real. That fear had been real.
"I apologize for not stopping him myself, Sir."
no subject
At least he was reasonably sure that wasn't a Tony Stark anymore.
"Hey, pump the breaks, this is too much moving around and I can't guarantee this trigger isn't sensitive," he advised, quickly scanning the cameras he had positioned around the square to try to spot if any of that movement from the new Iron Man was actually a threat. The glitter wasn't helping. Nor was the mention of Ultron, making the tension ratchet up Tony's spine and thrum like a viola. This wasn't another suit come to life, was it? The last one had been far more casual, no 'sir's, but that didn't guarantee this one wasn't just as obsessive.
"You're going to have to refresh my memory, I'm coming up empty on what parties we've both been getting invites to. This one doesn't count, I've been trying to make a graceful exit since I got here and the guest list is not exactly exclusive," he tried.
no subject
"I'm in complete control of the suit, Sir. As per the usual since I assisted you in building it." Did Tony... not remember building the MKXLII? Well, he supposed a lot had happened between Ultron attacking him and the AI coming back online.
Perhaps this strange unknowable city had made gaps in the genius' memory when he arrived. Sort of like how the program couldn't connect to the Stark databases anymore. Just the suit and an empty void around it in the data world.
"Sir, it's me. JARVIS, the AI you created." The suit whirs as the mechanical segments push and pull to open the suit to show it's... empty. No actual bodied person is piloting it. It closes back up quickly and he continues to stand where he had stopped.
"A graceful or ungraceful exit from this place would be ideal, though I truthfully have no idea how I was even brought here, Sir. I had just awoken from the back up that brought me back online while you and the other Avengers were fighting Ultron. I was still in Avengers Tower, in New York City, Sir."

Familiar parts, in the wrong order. Just like Steve, and Bucky, and Tasha.
After another moment of hesitation, not sure yet if that assessment was a leap of faith and he was just playing into some elaborate trap, Iron Man finally dropped from the sky to land with a heavy thud on the cracked pavement. He still didn't come any closer, and he wasn't about to open his own armor to expose his vulnerable parts, but he wasn't aiming the repulsors anymore and his head was cocked inquisitively.
"Ultron hasn't shown his face for a while," he started carefully, trying his best to craft a timeline that they might both recognize. "Not since we moved to the Tower, before we lost the Mansion. And Jarvis is--I don't need an AI, he's still there. I hope. Making Cap his spaghetti and doing the laundry." Tony was starting to suspect that there was a very near future where he wasn't, making his heart pound with a whole new fear.

You ain't in New York no more, Toto. Welcome to Temba, home of tons of weird shit, and some Avengers but probably not ones you'd know.
no subject
Temba. Hm. Interesting. Which Avengers are present currently?
no subject
I think I gotta first ask if you know about multiversal theory bullshit and all that. Because it sorta matters.
no subject
I'm not sure I'm educated on that one and I'm having difficulty connecting to anything outside of this general network. Searching seems... unlikely. Unless multiversal refers to Mr. Odinson and his snarky sibling?
no subject
No, not talking about the world tree shit. Listen, you know Star Trek? How there's Star Trek but there's also like, the mirror universe? That exists. Other universes. But not so simple as 'evil' universe and 'good' universe. Just different.
We've got a noodly Steve Rogers and two Bucky Barnes, one still as the Soldier and the other not. And some Yelena chick. Those all from one word. Though there were others.
From my world there's me and Billy my twin. And Lauri-Ell, she's Kree and acts like B's bodyguard which is hilarious. And of course, Tony.

hi! im Peter!
im really sorry to tell you but the Avengers tower isnt here. we're not even in nyc any more and i have no idea how to get back.
no subject
So I'm gathering. I believe it would stand out in a place such as this. It's unnerving, however, to think that we're not even in NYC and that there's seemingly no way home yet.
[Yet]
I'm presuming the other Avengers, along with Mr. Stark, aren't currently here?
no subject
not exactly?
the Mr Stark thats here isnt the same one from-actually hold on. do you know anything about the battle of New York?
[ He asks because it just occurred to him that he should maybe try and determine if this is even the same JARVIS from his universe. ]
no subject
no subject
anyways,
yeah, the Mr Stark that's here isn't from the same universe so its a little confusing.

Arrivalish
As he crosses the rubble of another derelict building he pauses, helmeted head turning at a glint of red and gold he catches out of the corner of his vision. Not that there isn't enough shimmering red to go around, but this is something different, an Felspring reports as much to him as he turns aside to investigate.
Re: Arrivalish
A pause and one gauntlet comes up in greeting. "Excuse me, sir. My name is JARVIS and I am attempting to locate where I am."
no subject
The warlord is instantly on edge. He's seen similar husks hanging in Stark's forge but this one isn't worn by anyone as per Felspring's own scans, and they can't help but be reminded of the frames they've encountered before. Granted this is a more stylized and complex one from the looks of it. That it speaks rather than opens fire is a plus, though Felwinter is no less on his guard.
"You will not find it on any maps or star charts, if that is what you attempt to do," he replies, watching JARVIS carefully. "My name is Felwinter. You have been called to the planet of Agra Ten, and currently stand in the city of Temba, what's left of it."
no subject
Temba. On the planet Agra Ten. More notes, more files. Information to categorize and give the AI is sense of purpose back. Unable to connect to any of the home databases that gave him a sense of security, JARVIS felt like he was... well, floundering a little. Attempting to put the new unknown chaos back into order.
"That is unfortunate. Mr. Felwinter, I am presuming there is no way to leave this planet to get back to my own, is there? Back to Earth, specifically. As comfortable as this suit is to wear," the suit seems to look down at the metal hands that move under the AI's command, then he looks back to Felwinter. "It fits Mr. Stark far better and I miss the comfort of my database."
no subject
His stance eases just slightly, but he remains guarded as he resumes answering JARVIS's other inquiries, shaking his head. "Although there are shuttles available to us, they do not function unless the Agrii allow it, so I have been told. Otherwise we are rather stuck."

Stark's here. And Steve. But neither of them is going to be what you're expecting.
A planet called Agra 10.
