Mod Churby Note: My apologies for how late this is. Things got complicated.
An End to Storms?Slowly but surely exploration teams filter back to the safe area of the Warrens where their companions await. They have been on their quests, they have seen systems shut down or destroyed. Their actions may provoke hope, or may have left destruction in their wake. In the hands of each successful party rests a small device. More information is the hope. Answers to the storms, or to the Agrii, or who knows what.
A bit after the exploration teams the first crew returns. They have seen things. Learned things. And hopefully they have achieved one of the core tasks that He Rows have had before them since the first day they set foot upon Agra-10. There is a chance that the storms might end now. Perhaps just as importantly, they return with a Smooolsher down a few charges, a large machine disabled, and a device that will enable them to read the smaller devices brought back by the other teams.
Now all that needs to happen is a decoding.
Good thing the He Rows have a lot of spare time while they wait for the Wanderkin and the other Plantkin to announce that travel back to the surface is safe. All it takes is time and the work of the Communications He Rows.
And oh,
the information you learn.
So a new set of questions might arise in He Rows. A new realization that, quite possibly, the best way you can help the Agrii isn't by following their wills. But do you really wish to ignore their desires? What is the best path going forward? Surely the He Rows will need to work together to figure out just what their future goals in regards to the Agrii should be.
Then, at long last, almost a month after heading into the Warrens, the news comes. The Wanderer returns amid many dancing Funfronds with news. The storm at the surface has diminished. It flickers and fades, the creatures it woke melting back into the dirt and mud they seemed to awaken from. Already snow begins to fall upon the surface, and there is safety to be had there once more. The Wanderer offers to guide He Rows back to the surface, but conveys for the Funfronds that the Warrens will remain accessible to them from now on. They will always have shelter among the little ones. All that is asked is that He Rows avoid the Warrens during the autumn of every third year, as this is the sporing time, and the elder Funfronds and their new sprouts need the space then. Allowing them the space this year was a unique allowance and made the sporing Funfronds nervous.
As warned, upon returning to the mines and then the surface, Temba is colder now. There is a layer of dirt and dust and mud over many places that the prior zombies were around, so cleaning is going to be needed. But otherwise the city is once more the domain of the He Rows for the passage of the winter. The Wanderkin itself wanders off toward the greenhouse, no doubt seeking some place warm to pass its winter as it continues to study the culture of the He Rows.
Winter will be a slow and quiet thing, with nothing more than standard snow. It falls and builds up in mounds and banks. The snow clearing droids return from wherever they went into hiding at the end of last winter, and the city streets and paths are cleared. This might well be the most peaceful winter any He Row has seen in Temba. At least for now. After all, there should be no more storms, right?
Take the free time you have, snuggle up with some warmth, and prepare for what you know is coming next. New Tick approaches and the Agrii like to force festiveness upon you. Though maybe if you want your gifts you might not want to debate with the Agrii over the future until after you've gotten them.
